Youngstown Orthopaedic, YSU Announce ‘Doctor’s Order’
Sports Medicine Surgeons to Donate $300 Whenever Penguin Back Gains 100 Yards
CANFIELD, Ohio (September 19, 2011) – Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates and the Youngstown State University Athletic Department today announced the “Doctor’s Order,” a $300 donation to the American Cancer Society that will be activated whenever a YSU player gains at least 100 yards.
The promotion began with the start of the 2011 season and will remain active for home and away games throughout the season.
“We’re excited about the YSU running attack and would like to see a ‘Doctor’s Order’ in every game,” said Dr. Leslie Schwendeman, a partner at YOA, the region’s largest orthopedic surgery practice and a leading sports medicine provider. Whenever the 100-yard barrier is broken by a single rusher, the “Doctor’s Order” will be announced at Stambaugh Stadium and on the YSU radio broadcasts.
YOA will make a donation equal to $300 per “Doctor’s Order” to the Cancer Society’s Boardman Relay for Life at the end of the football season. YOA is a long-time supporter of the Cancer Society. Its employees have been among the Boardman Relay for Life’s top fund-raisers for many years.
“The ‘Doctor’s Order’ is yet another reason for Penguins fans to be pumped about our running game,” said Ron Strollo, YSU’s Executive Director of Athletics. “We’re very pleased to help YOA raise additional funds for the Cancer Society while also building more support for YSU football.”
Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates is the Youngstown area’s largest orthopedic surgery practice, with nine certified orthopedic surgeons. In addition to hip replacements, knee replacements, spine surgery and many other forms of orthopedic surgery, the practice offers sports medicine, therapy and imaging services.
