Dr. Stefko is a sports medicine physician and orthopeadic surgeon specializing in shoulder surgery and knee surgery, including arthroscopic repair or reconstruction of shoulder and knee injuries. He has extensive surgical experience with arthroscopic rotator cuff repair surgery, shoulder replacement surgery as a treatment option for arthritis and ACL knee reconstruction.

Dr. Stefko is a native of Youngstown, Ohio. He attended medical school at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. While in medical school he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honorary society. After medical school, Dr. Stefko completed an orthopedic surgical residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) between 1989 and 1994.

This was followed by subspecialty sports medicine education (fellowship) under the direction of Frank Jobe MD at the renowned Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Sports Medicine Clinic in Los Angeles, California. While in California, Dr. Stefko refined his arthroscopic surgical skills with experts in the field and also served as an assistant team physician to Los Angeles area professional and collegiate sports teams, including the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Angels, Anaheim Ducks and the University of Southern California sports teams.

Additionally, Dr. Stefko holds academic positions at Northeast Ohio Medical University and Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is actively involved in the surgical education of orthopedic surgery residents and medical students. Dr. Stefko published orthopedic research studies in peer review journals and has presented research findings at national and international conferences. Dr. Stefko is an active member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America and is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons.
