Medications to Stop Before Surgery

3-5 days before surgery: (confirm with your primary care physician or cardiologist)

  • Eliquis
  • Pradaxa
  • Effient

5 days before surgery:

  • Coumadin/Warfarin

7 days before surgery:

  • Full strength Aspirin 325 mg
  • Plavix
  • NSAIDs: Meloxicam, DayPro, Naproxen, Ibuprofen, Relafen, Cataflam, Etodolac, etc.
  • Herbal Supplements
  • Vitamin Supplements containing fish oil, Vitamin E, or Vitamin K

You do not need to discontinue these medications:

  • Baby Aspirin – 81mg
  • Celebrex
  • Tramadol
  • Oxycodone or Hydrocodone
