Outpatient Procedures

When you are scheduled for out patient surgery, you are asked to be able to be reached by phone the day before your surgery in case of an emergency and something needs changed. The facility will also be contacting you with the time as well as instructions for the morning of the surgery.

If you have any medical problems you are asked to contact your primary care physician before your surgery to make sure that you are clear for the surgery. We do not want you to get all the way to the operating room and then be cancelled because the Anesthesiologist feels that you need cleared before they can administer the anesthetic.

Inpatient Procedures

When you are scheduled for an inpatient surgery, you are asked to contact your primary care physician and make sure he feels you are stable enough for the surgery. If you have any other medical conditions such as (cardiac problems) you are asked to contact that physician as well and make sure that you are cleared for surgery.

You will be receiving a call from the facility approximately a week or two before the surgery. The facility will want make arrangements for you to go in for pre-admission testing. These tests need done before you will be able to have your surgery. You will also be told by the facility the time you are to be at the hospital the morning of your surgery as well as given instructions that you will need to follow. Not following these instructions could cause a case to be cancelled.

If the procedure you will be having done is an outpatient or inpatient procedure, you will want to call your insurance company to check your benefits. Depending on your insurance coverage, a deposit may be required and you will be responsible for all balances that your insurance company does not cover. We do contact your insurance company regarding pre-authorization, please be aware that our physicians are specialists and due to this fact their fees may be higher.
