Youngstown Orthopaedic Associates is offering virtual care (also commonly referred to as telehealth or telemedicine) for routine follow-up care, post-operative care and physical therapy, allowing you to visit with one of our doctors or physical therapists without having to leave your home. We’re providing patient-focused care that is convenient, secure and easy to access from your smartphone, laptop, desktop or tablet.
Our team uses video conferencing technologies to conduct virtual visits, allowing our doctors to provide face-to-face consultations with patients. Virtual care eliminates the need to travel and other health concerns or risks associated with an in-person visit. If we find that an X-ray or other diagnostic exam is needed, our care team will work with you to schedule a convenient time to come into our facilities.
Virtual Care: Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of virtual care?
Virtual care provides a way for patients who are at-risk or concerned about leaving home due to health issues or have limited access to transportation, to connect with their doctors and receive care from the comfort of their homes. It is safe, reliable and easy to use.
What kind of treatment can you provide?
Treatments can include the prescription of medications or a follow-up from an intervention such as bracing or injections. Your doctor may also order imaging studies such as X-ray, MRI, or EMG. For virtual physical therapy, you may receive guidance on exercise programs and range of motion, as well as strength assessments, allowing you, your physical therapist and your physician to stay informed of your rehabilitation progress.
How much does virtual care cost? Will my insurance cover it?
A virtual visit is treated the same as an in-office visit. As a result of COVID-19, many insurance companies are waiving out-of-pocket fees for patients.
Can I get prescriptions filled during a virtual visit?
YES.
Will I have to download a video conferencing platform? (ex. Zoom)
No, we make it easy to get started by keeping things simple. You will be emailed a link that will virtually connect you with your physician.
Is the video conferencing platform secure/HIPPA compliant?
Yes, it is secure and HIPPA compliant. The nice part about our virtual software, doxy.me, is that it is FREE TO USE and NO DOWNLOAD is required, making it extremely simple and easy to use for both clinicians and patients.
What type of devices can I use?
Smartphones (iOS and Android devices), tablets, desktop or laptop computer, provided you have a microphone, camera and internet access (WiFi).
